This Information Brief introduces the most important findings and key recommendations of the joint evaluation on EU mechanisms promoting Policy Coherence for Development.
The evaluation on which this information brief is based was commissioned and managed by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with the support of a steering group that included, besides France, representatives from Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands and the European Commission. The evaluation analyses and assesses mechanisms for promoting intra-governmental coherence that have been introduced in the administrations of the Members States and the European institutions since the late 1990s, and aims:
i) to judge their relevance and effectiveness, as well as their efficiency, impact and sustainability within their specific context,
ii) to formulate proposals to improve the relevance and effectiveness of the mechanisms analysed and
iii) to enable politicians and officials in member states and European institutions to learn and apply lessons from experience about mechanisms for policy coherence for development.
